Of cats and boys

Last week, we re-homed a very large cat that we had rescued on her way to the pound last year. She was a nice cat.  Loved to sit and cuddle, if you weren’t 3 or 8 and all over her. She liked the boys… when they were asleep. Slept on Mathias’ bed. Her name was Rosie – and it fit her… (think roly poly rosie posie )
She had a most annoying habit.  Find an open door, go outside to eat grass, then come inside to puke it and hair upon my living room floor.   Not the tile, oh, no, it was not a good resceptacle for  hair balls. Only the carpet would do.
Rudy and I had both lost our patience with the cat’s habit, and with our floor looking like a tic-tack-toe game…

So, when the neighbor down the road had a sweet young cat show up, presumably thrown out by some poor sot who didn’t have the decency to find a good home for it, we soon realized this just might be a solution.  Sugar is happy out of doors, wants attention, tolerates the youngest’s attempts at carting her around, and her only annoying habit is climbing the screens in the evening or morning seeking attention.
Thankfully, I was able to find Rosie a good home, with a vet who needs a declawed companion cat. As long as he grooms her, and doesn’t let her eat grass, I think they will get along great.
Aiden, was of course very sad to be re-homing his cat, even tho he barely spent time with her.  He shed a few tears.  After the sadness began to wear off, I told the boys that we would let Sugar come inside at night – to keep her from feeling the need for attention and climbing on our windows, to keep her safe from wild animals, and warm in the winter, and so that they could cuddle with her.  They were quite excited about this prospect, and that night, Aiden asked me to let Sugar in. I did, put her on his bed, and they cuddled, and fell asleep…

I’ve a feeling my boys will end up in cat wars over who gets to cuddle with Sugar first… but for now, saying goodbye to Rosie has been successful, and Sugar has become part of the family  (she spent part of that first night on my bed, and part of last night on Mathias’…)

About Beloved of YHWH

I am the “Head of Domestic Affairs” here on the mountain top. What that means is, I’m a stay-at home mom of 2 Boys, Small business owner, gardener, homemaker, blogger, planner, mediator, nurse, and so much more. My life took an unexpected and painful turn a couple of years ago, which is how I came to name my blog Shakam Boqer, but YHVH has been incredibly faithful to me, the boys and I are healing, and I am full of hope. I’m a follower of Yeshua, and my faith is an integral part of my life. Part of how He created me to reflect Him is to be a teller of the Story. I share my story, not as an exhibitionist, not for the attention it might receive, not for accolades or recognition, but, for His Glory – so that others, as they read, as they see how YHVH has led and loved me over the course of time, can be edified, lifted up, encouraged to Look to HIM, to Trust Him, to pursue Holy Wholeness with every fiber of their beings. Within this blog, I want community and conversation and interaction. I want to offer hope, and joy, and also thought provoking bits that make one look deeper into the heart of Elohim. This is my place to share my thoughts, wrestlings and just daily life. Please, please feel free to comment, discuss and even dissect & respectfully disagree. 1. And the spoiling begins! So glad this kitty is a good fit. Caleb still makes beds and nooks for his cat, and she has grown to quite expect them, thank you!

  2. Yes, Aiden is definitely into the spoiling. Mathias still hasn’t figured out that kitties don’t much care for being pulled around by their legs, tails, etc, nor stuffed into boxes. He’ll learn, and thankfully, she’s docile enough that she basically lets him, but It has been a learning curve 😀
