I have much to write about this weekend, as it truly was a blessing, on many ways.
However, I’m using my dad’s computer at the moment, as my Mac died last night, and is at the Apple repair in Knoxville…. My online time will be limited to a quick look at email and facebook, on my phone, which is a pain. If you need to contact me, txt is best.
God’s in control tho, and he’s already shown me that this week I’m to be focused on my first calling, and some reading assignments attached to it – that of being mother to and parenting my boys. So, I’ll be focused on that this week. Thank you for your prayers!! (given this, i will likely not be on the phone a lot this week either…)
Aslan is on the move!!!
A friend shared this song today, as it had spoken to her…
And, it speaks to me.
Yeshua, you have carried me thru 37 yrs of life, much of it painful and “growing”.
You are carrying me now.

So, I’m really just learning about Hannukah…
I’ve semi celebrated it the last two years, but haven’t researched it as well as the other feasts, as it’s not what is referred to as a “commanded” feast… so, it was on the bottom of my list of things to learn about… So, I don’t have much of my own thoughts to offer yet…
However, the following links have been a real blessing to me this past week 😀
Not sure what to put in first…
Okay, A brief history lesson, from Jewish scholars – it’s a good overview on the political/religious contention that precipitated Hannukah:
The next one is an article written by Nehemia Gordon, an American Kairite Jew who is a Hebrew Scholar, fluent in the ancient Hebrew & Aramaic and a couple other ancient languages, and who lives in Jerusalem. Kairite Jews are Sola Scriptura Jews who do not obey the “oral traditions” of the rabbis. Because he does not believe in Yahshua as Messiah, he does not point out that Yahshua defined the “lights/fire” Josephus speaks of in the celebration, as Himself, in saying, “I am the Light of the World” in John 9, which in context of John 10, took place during Hannukah. I greatly respect Nehemia, as he says that at this point, we – Christians, and Jews are looking for Messiah to come to rule as King, and when that happens, if Yahshua that we call Messiah is one in the same, he has no problem accepting that 😀 He also does seminars with other Messianics & Protestants on issues that they have common ground on… ANYWAY…
Here’s the link to the article – which is a deeper look at the History of Hannukah:
Next up is the website for downloading or listening to the teachings from Vineyard of Yahweh, the Hebrew Roots congregation I call Home, even tho they are located 4 hrs north of here, up near the mtns of NE TN, that I hope to someday return to… Matthew, the Pastor there, was actually my first contact to the Messianic community where I first started attending the Feasts back 3 years ago this last Passover. He came to the SDA church to help do a teaching on Passover the summer before… this was just following Mathias’ birth, and I was sick and unable to attend that sermon series on the feasts, but got the 4 sermons on CD as I’d LONG (as in from childhood) wanted to know more about the Feasts of the Lord.
Matthew and his wife, Jessica have been a great blessing to myself and the boys over the past 3 years since and I’m grateful for them in my life, and for their ministry and willingness to follow YHWH into ministry and starting a new congregation in their area just last year.
So, much thanks to The Vineyard of Yahweh! for a very good teaching “Keeping Han in Hannukah”. I very much agree with much said here, and as a Protestant SDA, born and raised on Daniel & Revelation, the look at prophecy here is really fascinating!! I Had NO idea that Daniel was given in vision a look at the first Hannukah!!! Cool stuff!! Really – that is what hit me so hard, my first year of observing the Feast Celebrations with the Messianic community in Bristol, TN – the ties to end time prophecies were astounding! When I say I was born and raised on Daniel & Revalation, I truly mean that – I can vividly remember attending at least 4 long term studies/seminars on the subject in my childhood, from the time I was 5 or 6 till in High School and getting it in Bible class… So, connections were very easily made for me between what I already knew and what I was learning!!!
The small PDF icon will give you the powerpoint presentation that went with each teaching.
I highly recommend both “Keeping Han in Hannukah” as well as the sermon titled “From Malachi to Matthew”, which is also a good look at the history missing from the space between those two Biblical books.
also – as a side note, I’ve not researched the various theories on the nephalim. Thought I should point out tho that there are various theories, and the one presented in the link above may be new to the listener… don’t let that deter you from listening thru the rest of the teaching!!!
Okay, I think the last one for now is from Passion for Truth Ministries.
I’ll be honest to say I only caught the tail end of it when it aired live, and was much blessed with what little I heard. I hope to listen to the rest of it tomorrow. Jim Staley’s Identity Crisis is also a beautiful teaching, which I highly recommend…
Anyway, heres the teaching – Christmas, Hannukah & The Anti-Christ:
I just watched the above video in it’s entirety, and boy he covers a LOT of ground!! I think the last half of it is better than the first half, especially if you want to learn about Hannukah. The first 1/3 to half or so is a brief overview of Christmas History, which, frankly isn’t a bad thing to know, but not the point of this blog. Some of the traditions that he tells about re Hannukah, as we already learned in the links above, may not be based in truth, but in myth… None the less – his call to truly love God in how we love others, and His insights on the Menorah itself I found to be fascinating!!
I love that the verse: “Not by might, Nor by Power, but By My Spirit says YHWH” is spoken in context of interpreting a prophetic vision about a Menorrah!
Blessings!! and, Happy Hannukah!!!
