New Moon – a look at when the month begins

Standard

This is not my study.  I want to credit first, our Father, Yehovah, for His leading, and second the author, Frank Klin, who wrote the following on a FB thread.  This was a new look at an old discussion.. at least, it was a new to me look and it’s beautiful, and really goes to the heart of our Father, not the semantics which so often get argued over at length, but the whole of Scripture, which portrays the Heart of Our God.  I was blessed, and hope you will be also!  🙂

Phases of the Moon

“Dear brothers and sisters. I share the following for your consideration on this topic. I believe the Scripture identifies precisely how to identify when the New Moon begins. The foundational verses are found in the first book of the Torah, and the same theme continues all the way through to the end of Revelation. I preface the study with these verses:

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” – (James 1:17 KJV)

“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” – (1 John 1:5 KJV)

Now consider what you just learned about our Father as you read these familiar verses:

“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.” – (Genesis 1:3-5 KJV)

Because Jesus is the Son of the Father of lights He began the first day of creation on the earth that was without form and void by speaking the words “Let there be light.” He then divided the light from darkness calling the light Day. So this new day was identified by the fact that “there was light.”
For God to truly be light, “and in Him is no darkness at all,” the Son of God did something special on the fourth day of creation:

“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,” – (Genesis 1:14-17 KJV)

The Son of the Father of lights spoke two great lights into existence as a division between day and night, the sun being the greater light to rule the day, the moon being the lesser light to rule the night. These lights were to be for signs, for seasons, (moeds, appointed times), for days, and years. All this was done so there could be lights in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth.

On the fourth day of creation, the very first day of existence for this New Moon ask yourself did the moon begin dark, or did it begin as light? The verses we just read identify the moon as a lesser light to rule the earth at night. It is only during its cycle of days that this light becomes dark. When the moon is dark what lights the night? Our Scripture says “He made the stars also,” and they give light to the night when the moon is dark.

Can the moon still be considered to rule the night if it is not shining? Yes, but during its dark phase it gives no benefit. It does not light the night. When a light that was once shining has been turned off when will the light be new or renewed? If the Son of God tells us a new moon is the first day of a new month, can we glean from the verses in Genesis when the moon’s cycle begins again? I propose Scripture is telling us the moon becomes new when it once again begins to light the night just like on the very first day it was created. New Moon = New Night Light. This is in keeping with the identity of our God as the Father of lights, in whom there is “no darkness at all.”

Do a search through Scripture of the words associated with darkness and light, and see if our Father leads you to the same conclusion. My understanding of when to identify the New Moon is further enhanced as I read the following words of Paul, “Do all things without murmurings and disputings: that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;” – (Philippians 2:14-15 KJV)

When we have darkness in us can we shine as lights to the world? When the moon is dark can it shine as a light to the night? What happens when we come out of darkness into the light? We become a new creature. When the moon comes out of darkness into light it becomes a new moon, once again able to bring light to the earth.

“Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.” – (Ecclesiastes 2:13 KJV)

“…if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” – (1 John 1:7 KJV)

“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” – (2 Corinthians 4:6 KJV)

“O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.” – (Isaiah 2:5 KJV)

“And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:” – (Exodus 13:21 KJV)

“And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.” – (Exodus 14:20 KJV)

“For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.” – (Psalm 18:28 KJV)

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” – (Psalm 27:1 KJV)

“For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.” – (Psalm 36:9 KJV)

“The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.” – (Psalm 74:16 KJV)

“Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.” – (Psalm 112:4 KJV)

“All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord GOD.” – (Ezekiel 32:8 KJV)

“Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.” – (1 John 2:8 KJV)

“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.” – (Isaiah 60:1-2 KJV)

“The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.” – (Isaiah 60:19-20 KJV)

Jeremiah 31:8,9 Illustrated

Standard

Last night, as I was looking for good illustrations of Yehovah calling Israel to himself, leading them, the blind, lame, women with children and in labor. Or even pics of him protecting women in labor… And came up feeling rather empty handed.  So, today, while listening to teachings, I created what I will call a “concept art” or a ROUGH draft. Someday maybe I’ll get it painted, or maybe someone who sees this will take the idea and paint it. 😀

It needs to be painted on a canvas several feet longer, so that the perspective and size difference between the people is not pronounced, and looks more realistic.  It also needs a lot more people, some who aren’t lame, blind, with child or in labor, and the city needs to be larger, brighter, more inviting with GOLD streets, not silver.  But, there’s only so much I could fit well on 11 X 15.  😀  With paint, the facial features would have a lot more detail.   However, for pencil, and it being a concept art – to lay out a blueprint for what is in my mind, I’m happy with it.

Special nods to my Indian heritage reflected in the nursing mother, and inspiration drawn from my mom’s labor with my younger brother (beard added to her hubby due to having a hard time getting his chin defined well), and from my brother-in-love pushing my sister-in-love in her wheelchair, with my youngest walking alongside.  😀

Here are several pics – two with flash, two without…

Women with Children, and in Labor

Standard

Today two things came across my radar…
First up was my study this morning from Jeremiah 31.
and Second was learning, via third party, that a dear friend had shared his news of expecting a child with one of his friends. This friend’s response was to send back, via text the word’s of Yeshua, “But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!”

In the religious culture in which I was raised, Eschatological Theology (end time theology) was a COMMON refrain and  this type of  “don’t have children cause the end of time is almost upon us” refrain is fairly common also.
I’m thankful for the education I received, and that so much of Scripture is familiar to me, especially those hard to understand books of Daniel & Revelation.

However, I’m learning that maybe the theology was off a bit.  For instance – the warnings of Yeshua in Mark 13  & Matthew, quoted above, are in a larger context of the “Abomination of Desolation” which was clearly understood at that time as the desecration of  Jerusalem and the Temple by Pagan rites and rituals, or a setting up as god to be worshipped, by an anti-messiah within the temple. The Abomination of Desolation spoken of by Daniel, found it’s first fulfillment in the desecration of the Temple and the slaughter of many Jews by Antiochus Epiphanes recorded in Maccabees of the Apocrypha.  Antiochus set up a pagan god in the Temple, offered a pig on the altar, thereby completely making it unlcean. He forbade the use of Yehovah’s name, Forbade Sabbath Observance, Feast Observance, and hung from the city walls, all mothers with their slain circumcised boys.  Many Jews escaped Jerusalem, where all of this destruction and mayhem started, and, in fact, that’s why Joseph & Mary whose families were originally from Bethlehem were living in Nazareth, or Nat-zaret amongst the Gentiles well north of Jerusalem.  Their families had FLED Jerusalem a few generations earlier.

In like manner, the Jews fled the Romans when Titus laid seige on the city of Jerusalem, and Herod’s Temple was destroyed by Titus in 70 AD. I’m guessing that any of Yeshua’s disciples would have seen the Roman invasion and destruction of the Temple as fulfillment of Yeshua’s words.

Now, most prophecies in Scripture have more than one fulfillment.  So, I think it’s reasonable to believe that the Abomination of Desolation will again come.  However, what that will look like this time around is up to some debate, especially given the lack of a Temple in Jerusalem.   I’ve never gotten a real firm grasp on WHAT my childhood denomination defined it as.  I think the closest was a World Wide Government Mandated Religion, specifically laws pertaining to the worship of God on Sunday and the mandate to work on Sabbath.

However, I’m not certain that’s completely accurate.  The first two fulfillments were geographically specific to the Temple & Jerusalem. I will be honest to say I think, given Yeshua’s words in Mark 13 – “then let them who live in Judea flee to the mountains,” that the last fulfillment will also be geographically specific,  an Anti-Christ setting up rule from Jerusalem, and dictating certain behaviors – likely enforcing laws very similar to Antiochus’ mandates.
When that happens and those true followers of Messiah see it happening, they would be wise to flee Judea and head for the hills, and it’s in this context that Yeshua says, “But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!”

Frankly, even if here, in America, True Followers of Yeshua, by necessity have to flee their homes to safety within the mountains, to avoid religious persecution, I wouldn’t want to be with child; tho many mothers have been thru extreme or unusual conditions with children in tow!!

mother-child-botswana_3661_990x742

However, I found today, this incredible verse of something that ALSO happens in the “end of time”.  I’d venture to say it happens AFTER the Anti-Christ.

As Christians, we have always called ourselves “spiritual Israel” but we’ve not as often applied the prophecies REGARDING Israel to ourselves.  Keep in mind that in the Prophetic books of Scripture; Judah & Israel are two distinct people groups – one making up the Southern Kingdom who went into captivity for 70 years and returned to the land of Judea, and the other making the Northern Kingdom who where scattered amongst the nations following capture by the Assyrians. Most people we know today as Israelis are actually from JUDAH the Southern Kingdom and are Jews (from the tribe of Judah) by blood.
I truly believe we , who follow the Messiah, are Israel.  As in, the 10 northern tribes of Israel, scattered among the nations after Yehovah gave us a writ of Divorcement because we kept following after our other lovers. (See Jim Staley’s Identity Crisis for more on that – follow link provided).  We are made up of those who are the seed of Abraham by blood and, or, simply BY FAITH, HEIRS to the promise,  according to Paul’s words in Galations 3:29.
The prophecies to Israel pertain to us, they are OUR prophecies!! THEY HAVE NOT YET BEEN FULFILLED!!!
In the books of the Prophets four terms are used interchangeably to mean the same group of people –  Israel, Jacob, Joseph & Ephraim.  That can be seen in the following verses, which give me GREAT hope that tho mothers with children, or who are in labor will have a VERY hard time of it when they have to flee Judea for the hills; They will also be protected, sheltered and Loved Tenderly in the final gathering of the Messiah’s Bride!!!

So, Mommas and Daddies Take heart, children are a heritage from Yehovah  – Yehovah is Father to Israel!!!   😀

Jeremiah 31:6-10

 For here is what Yehovah says:
“Sing with joy for Ya‘akov! (Jacob)
shout for the chief of the nations!
Proclaim your praise, and say:
Yehovah! You have saved your people,
the remnant of Isra’el!’
(8) Look! I am bringing them from the land in the north,
gathering them from the far ends of the earth;
among them are the blind and lame,
women with children, women in labor,
all together, a vast throng
returning here.
(9) They will come weeping and praying
as I bring them back.
I will lead them by streams of water
on smooth paths, so that they won’t stumble.
For I am a Father to Isra’el,
and Efrayim (Ephraim) is my firstborn son.”

(10) Nations, hear the word of Yehovah!
Proclaim it in the coastlands far away. Say:
“He who scattered Isra’el is gathering him,
guarding him like a shepherd his flock.”
10 (11) For Yehovah has ransomed Ya‘akov,
redeemed him from hands too strong for him.”

So, so beautifully reassuring!!

Shavuot – Keith Johnson

Standard

9/22/12  Edit:  I’ve gotten several search hits for Keith Johnson “Time will Tell” coming to this blog.  Please feel free to read this blog entry, which is composed of my notes from His Shavuot teaching May 2012.  However, if you would like to know more, please visit Keith’s website at:

Thanks

The following blog was written and published June 19, 2012 – and is a transcription of my notes from one of the speakers at Shavuot 2012, with A Rood Awakening.  The weekend was intended to equip and strengthen those able to attend. Seating was limited and there was a cover charge/donation for this “continuing education” event, so it was a small group. The teachings were solid, the fellowship wonderful, the two meals per day provided excellent, and we came home with a box of study helps and teachings.
On a couple of the teachings, I didn’t take great notes, because we were in meetings from 9 am till 10 pm, with meal breaks, and I struggled to stay awake during the afternoon meetings. (I’m so glad I left my boys with my mom, as they would not have done well with the long hours and I would have missed so much!) All of the teachings included teaching helps, power point, pics, etc, which of course, I can’t duplicate here…  All texts are from the Complete Jewish Bible or the KJV as I didn’t have internet access to copy/paste from other versions.

I truly appreciated the many hours of instruction, from several teachers, on the subject of the work of the Holy Spirit.
Though SDA’s say they accept the gifts of the Spirit as being valid for today, they tend to be exceptionally leery of any manifestation of the Spirit, and especially tongues. Unintelligible tongues (not a foreign language) are completely out of the accepted norm, despite Paul’s clear writing in 1 Cor 12, 13 & 14.  Including “though I speak with the tongues of men, even angels” and “Keep on eagerly seeking the things of the Spirit; and especially seek to be able to prophecy.”  Or “I wish you all would speak in tongues” or “I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you”  and that tongue is described as “For someone speaking in a tongue is not speaking to people but to God, because no one can understand, since he is uttering mysteries in the power of the Spirit.”  Or… “For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit does pray, but my mind is unproductive”.  (None of which sound like the speaking in a foreign, but known to a people group on earth, language).  His instructions on congregational setting is – “Whenever you come together, let everyone be ready with a psalm or a teaching or a revelation, or ready to use his gift of tongues or given an interpretation; but let everything be done for edification.” How do we embrace 1 Cor 13, but toss out so much of 12 & 14?!?!
I’d already been wrestling with these Scriptures vs my upbringing vs my experience with the edifying gift of tongues over the past month – having just realized that the “love” chapter, which has been the defining chapter of my life, is sandwiched between two chapters on the Gifts and Manifestations of the Spirit, which I confess, I don’t understand well, given my upbringing. So, it was incredibly good for me to have hours of solid Biblical teaching on the things of the Spirit!!!

I will say that as I typed these notes up, there were a few things that left questions in my mind. Please know that I don’t have all the answers to all the questions these teachings might bring.  I’m merely transcribing my handwritten notes to typeset and posting as a blog for my remembrance, and to push us all to deeper study.

I will say this – I am convinced that it is okay – No, not just okay, but RIGHT to Eagerly seek the things of the Spirit!!!
“ YHVH, I want more of You and Your Spirit! Make me a vessel of Honor for You to indwell and fill with your Spirit and manifestations in accordance with Your incredible plan for My life!!”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At Passover, Keith told us about his study on Time.  The Spirit told me then that this study was going to be crucial, and that if Keith was going to be doing any teaching for Shavuot, I need to be in attendance. So, when I found out that He was going to be teaching, with A Rood Awakening, I knew where I needed to be…  YHVH had good plans 😀
Keith Johnson – Time will Tell…
10 years ago, Keith was confronted with 3 things while in Israel – Time. Torah. Tetragramaton (YHVH’s name)
Sometimes we must be led by the Spirit, because we can’t see what we need to with our bare eyes!
Keith has been on a journey, in which he feels the Spirit has led him.  He thought the Tetragramaton was going to be a big thing to present, but it turns out, Time and what he has discovered there will be huge!
2 Thess 2:1-4
But in connection with the coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah and our gathering together to meet him, we ask you, brothers, not to be easily shaken in your thinking or anxious because of a spirit or a spoken message or a letter supposedly from us claiming that the Day of the Lord has already come. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way. For the Day will not come until after the Apostasy has come and the man of sin (KJV) or lawlessness or ‘who separates himself from Torah’ (CJB – also a look back at the Greek shows this “lawlessness to be connected with not having Torah) has been revealed, the one destined for doom. He will oppose himself to everything that people call a god or make an object of worship; he will put himself above them all, so that he will sit in the Temple of YHVH and proclaim that he himself is God.
Don’t you remember that when I was still with you, I used to tell you these things? And now you know what is restraining, so that he may be revealed in his own time. For already this separating from Torah is at work secretly, but it will be secretly only until he who is restraining is out of the way. Then the one who embodies separation from Torah (“and then shall that Wicked be revealed” KJV) will be revealed, the one whom the Lord Yeshua will slay with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the glory of His coming.
When this man who avoids Torah comes (even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan – KJV), the Adversary will give him the power to work all kinds of false miracles, signs and wonders. He will enable him to deceive, in all kinds of wicked ways, those who are headed for destruction Because they would not receive the love of the truth that could have saved them. This is why YHVH is causing them to go astray, so that they will believe the Lie. The result will be that all who have not believed the truth, but have taken their pleasure in wickedness, will be condemned.”
This verse connects back to Daniel 7:24, 25 an incredibly familiar verse for me, having been raised in Daniel seminars from the time I could talk…
As for the ten hours, out of this kingdom, ten kings will arise; and yet another will arise after them. Now he will be different from the earlier ones, and he will put down three kings. He will speak words against the Most High and try to exhaust the holy ones of the Most High. He will attempt to alter the seasons and the laws, (think to change times and laws – KJV) and they will be given over to him for a time, times and half a time.  (CJB)
As I learned this verse in childhood – the things that this “man of sin” would change would be the Sabbath changed to Sunday (times) and the 10 Commandments – specifically the 2nd and 4th.
However… to truly understand this verse, we need to go back to original language – Aramaic, which makes sense, given Daniel lived his entire adult life in Babylon…. If we look at the words in Aramaic, and compare their usage in this verse with the usage in the rest of an Aramaic translation of the OT from Hebrew to Aramaic, we find that the first time the word for “time” is found in Aramaic Scriptures in Gen 1:14 – which in Hebrew means mo’ed or Mo’edim (plural) and means set apart or appointed times.  Mo’edim is also used to describe the Feasts of YHVH in the list of Lev 23.
Soo, the Time that this ruler would think to change would be the Feasts of YHVH!!!! Including, but not limited to Sabbath!!!
And the word for “law”?  The Aramaic to Hebrew takes it back to Torah; Or, instructions given in the first 5 books of Scripture.
Thinking back over church history – have we seen this? Have the Feasts and Instructions been changed??
Arch of Titus – Inscription side: “The senate
and people of Rome
to the divine Titus, son of the divine Vespasian,
Vespasianus Augustus”
This Relief is on the opposite side of the Inscription
The Arch of Titus gives a clear picture of the physical which lead to the spiritual change…
Titus was the General who destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD. Titus and Pope Pious (who had the Arch preserved) are described on the Arch as being Divine, and High Priest.
Titus destroyed the temple, but said, “I need things from the Jews”
The things he took (as depicted on the Arch of Titus) included the Gold Menorah, the Table of Shew Bread, Torah scrolls, and the Silver Trumpets.
We must ask – why did Rome want these things? What did the spiritual entity behind Rome want with these things???
The Temple was where YHVH hardwired His Time!
Shavuot, and the other pilgrimage feasts brought in 1 million Jews from ALL over the known world, into Jerusalem because they were to worship where YHVH would place his name forever! That’s a lot of people flocking to Jerusalem, rather than Rome….
When Titus took the Silver Trumpets he took “Time”! He took the instruments used to proclaim YHVH’s calendar, his appointments, his Feasts, His Sacred TIME!
If we don’t know what the mo’edim and Torah say, then I’m under the man of lawlessness, the man of sin….
The following is a replication of the same relief on the Arch… Most notable are the Menorah and the Two Trumpets. Some historians believe the items held aloft are signs, others believe them to be Torah scrolls….
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This presentation brought me to tears… agonizing tears for 10 min or more…

My tears were for the Seventh-day Adventist church.  I am not sure, even now, weeks later, that I can completely put into words why, other than the Holy Spirit grieving within me…
However, the best I can say is, “we”, SDA’s have taught only part. “We” have this idea that we have it ALL figured out! “We” understand end time events… however, the teaching above summarizes what I’ve learned over the course of the last few years which is – NO “we” don’t! Yes, Sabbath is important, but there’s more! If we really want to understand prophecy, we have to understand ALL of YHVH’s appointments! All of His Feasts!!! If we want to understand what Yeshua came to do – both free us and give us abundant life we have to understand all of His Torah, not just the 10 commandments and the clean/unclean meats… We’ve missed the mark! Yes, there was a “love of truth” that started the SDA movement, but somewhere along the way we stopped looking for those nuggets of truth, decided we “had it all” and became complacent with what we knew…
and so, I cried. Not for one individual, but for the collective whole, for the movement, for the denomination made of individuals…

I don’t know exactly what YHVH has for me, in having experienced that grieving, but I will say it was not me, it was Him in me!  My personal feelings toward the SDA movement/denomination are not one of truly grieving. I have many mixed emotions; mostly summarized in a defiance toward what was false… but grieving has not been part of that mix….  I’ve prayed that He would put His words in my mouth, and His heart for me to have toward Adventism. I know He will, in His time!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another woman was equally grieved, for the “church” at large, and we took some time together to pray.  We prayed for release from fear and for power to be poured out upon the churches.  She saw a shaking – a shaking of the chains which MUST come loose!  Not a shaking to condemnation as is so often covertly taught within SDA’sm on the subject of the coming “shaking”.  But a Shaking to Freedom!!! Like the earthquake that loosened the disciples held in Jail! HalleluYah!!!
Time Will Tell – Part 2
When Keith was first in Israel, he, thru a miraculous course of events, acquired a Torah scroll, which he’s since learned to read, and feels it is his “insurance policy” to be sure he is on track with YHVH.
While in Israel, he was on the South side of the Temple (which is where the Aviv barley was presented, and where the Trumpet was sounded from to announce “time”) celebrating Pentecost 10 years ago.
He asked himself what was the connection between Pentecost & the OT.  Since that time, he has experienced it.
Yeshua told his Disciples – Don’t leave Jerusalem! Wait here for the promise!!
We have to go back to the Scriptures if we want “the Gift”
There is a difference between Truth & Tradition – between the Real/Authentic & Error. Sometimes Tradition is real, and part of authentic History… sometimes it is not. It takes the Ruach to help us see how to parse tradition.
In Exodus 12:38 we find that in the Exodus was a Mixed Multitude.  The Hebrew is Erev Rav and is also used, elsewhere, as foreigners. Or in the Jewish Publication Society Translation – a “motley Crowd”
At Sinai, YHVH spoke and, according to Jewish tradition, all heard in their own language!  So, YHVH spoke in Tongues and the “Motley Crowd” understood Him!
Time Will Tell!
Scripture must be understood thru Language, History & Context!
“Time is the only entity without a polar opposite. It has no compliment. Time has no opposite, no compliment, no counterpart. We must respect time as an entity that stands alone, and continues” ~ Andrew Johnson
Ex 12:1, 2 – YHVH spoke to Moses & Aaron in the land of Egypt; he said, “This month shall be unto you the beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.”
YHVH – which means – He who was, is & will be
used the root word of Chodesh three times in this one sentence. It can mean the sliver of the moon or the Full Month of 29 days.  So he was saying…
“Do you see the new Moon? This New Moon shall mark for you the First of the month, and the First of Months in a year.”
Deut 16:1: Guard the Chodesh of Aviv, for, in the month of Aviv YHVH your Elohim brought you out Egypt at night.  We know that they would have come out on the 14th of the month, under a full moon.
Ex 19:1 In the third month (chodesh) after the Israelites left Egypt, on the very day, they came to the Desert of Sinai.
The question to be asked is – was it on the same day of the Month of the Aviv?
Or was it on the day of the new moon of the third month?
The first man to use Chodesh to mean new moon is David.
However, the Jewish Publication society translates the verse as “On the 3rd new Moon after the Israelites left Egypt (in the month of the Aviv).
Looking at a calendar based on YHVH’s time keeping (new moon & aviv barley) it’s clear that the events of Ex 19 – 23 could EASILY have occurred within less than a week, quite possibly on the very day of Shavuot!
Isa 66:23 tells us that the celebration of the new moon is not just for the “Jews”…
In the context of new heavens and a new earth, YHVH says,
“Every month on the new moon and every week on Sabbath, everyone living will come to worship in my presence.”  Or, in the King James, “And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith YHVH.”
As we celebrate Shavuot, let us remember YHVH’s first words on the very first Shavuot and giving of the first covenant:
Ex 20: 1,2 ;  Then Elohim said all these words,
“I am YHVH your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of slavery.”
The word “your” is singular possessive. Not plural possessive.  It does not mean “I am YHVH ya’ll’s God” It means “I am YHVH your personal God!!”
HalleluYah! He is MY God!!!
Shavuot – Warren Markus
The following blog is a transcription of my notes from one of the speakers at Shavuot 2012, with A Rood Awakening.  The weekend was intended to equip and strengthen those able to attend. Seating was limited and there was a cover charge/donation for this “continuing education” event, so it was a small group. The teachings were solid, the fellowship wonderful, the two meals per day provided excellent, and we came home with a box of study helps and teachings.
On a couple of the teachings, I didn’t take great notes, because we were in meetings from 9 am till 10 pm, with meal breaks, and I struggled to stay awake during the afternoon meetings. (I’m so glad I left my boys with my mom, as they would not have done well with the long hours and I would have missed so much!) All of the teachings included teaching helps, power point, pics, etc, which of course, I can’t duplicate here…  All texts are from the Complete Jewish Bible or the KJV as I didn’t have internet access to copy/paste from other versions.
I truly appreciated the many hours of instruction, from several teachers, on the subject of the work of the Holy Spirit.
Though SDA’s say they accept the gifts of the Spirit as being valid for today, they tend to be exceptionally leery of any manifestation of the Spirit, and especially tongues. Unintelligible tongues (not a foreign language) are completely out of the accepted norm, despite Paul’s clear writing in 1 Cor 12, 13 & 14.  Including “though I speak with the tongues of men, even angels” and “Keep on eagerly seeking the things of the Spirit; and especially seek to be able to prophecy.”  Or “I wish you all would speak in tongues” or “I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you”  and that tongue is described as “For someone speaking in a tongue is not speaking to people but to God, because no one can understand, since he is uttering mysteries in the power of the Spirit.”  Or… “For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit does pray, but my mind is unproductive”.  (None of which sound like the speaking in a foreign, but known to a people group on earth, language).  His instructions on congregational setting is – “Whenever you come together, let everyone be ready with a psalm or a teaching or a revelation, or ready to use his gift of tongues or given an interpretation; but let everything be done for edification.” How do we embrace 1 Cor 13, but toss out so much of 12 & 14?!?!
I’d already been wrestling with these Scriptures vs my upbringing vs my experience with the edifying gift of tongues over the past month – having just realized that the “love” chapter, which has been the defining chapter of my life, is sandwiched between two chapters on the Gifts and Manifestations of the Spirit, which I confess, I don’t understand well, given my upbringing. So, it was incredibly good for me to have hours of solid Biblical teaching on the things of the Spirit!!!
I will say that as I typed these notes up, there were a few things that left questions in my mind. Please know that I don’t have all the answers to all the questions these teachings might bring.  I’m merely transcribing my handwritten notes to typeset and posting as a blog for my remembrance, and to push us all to deeper study.
I will say this – I am convinced that it is okay – No, not just okay, but RIGHT to Eagerly seek the things of the Spirit!!!
“ YHVH, I want more of You and Your Spirit! Make me a vessel of Honor for You to indwell and fill with your Spirit and manifestations in accordance with Your incredible plan for My life!!”
Warren Markus – Mystery of Pentecost Revealed
I was very tired during this presentation, and confess I did not take great notes… Here they are, for better or worse…
Ex 23:16-17
Historically/Traditionally, Pentecost commemorates these historic events:
a. Fall of the Tower of Babel
b. The giving of the Covenant and Law to the people at Mt Sinai
c. The story of Ruth occurred between Passover and Pentecost (and if you listen to Matthew Miller’s sermon on Ruth, there are some wonderful shadow pictures contained in that story! it’s found here:   http://sermon.net/thevineyardofyahweh/sermonid/119925547 )
d. The Outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost.
a. Gen 11:1-3 Tower of Babel.  The People were all speaking one language, in one accord – and YHVH confounded their language.  However, at Pentecost the opposite occurred.  People were there who spoke many different languages, and they all were able to understand One individual speaker.
b. Exodus 19:9-11 notice that the people were to clean the camp, and clean themselves prior to YHVH coming to them.
We must be clean vessels for Him to dwell in!
There are two ways in which the Spirit comes… There is a difference between the Spirit In us and the Spirit upon us!
1. John 14:16-18 Yeshua praise for the Spirit to be in us. John 20:22, he breaths upon them and says, “Receive the Holy Spirit”.   The indwelt Holy Spirit gives us the power to Obey.
Every part of our body should be dedicated to Him and his power to obedience to him daily.
2. Acts 2 – The Holy Spirit comes Upon us with the Power to witness.
